Shop Downtown
Montezuma: Your One-Stop Source for
the
Holiday Season!
The Montezuma Downtown
Development Authority is asking you
to help revitalize our local
economy. You can save Montezuma's
economy three stores at a time. How?
Simply think about which three
stores you would most miss if they
disappeared from downtown Montezuma
and return there to shop.
Today's shoppers have become so
rooted in thinking about the
essentials that sometimes they
forget to think about the little
shop whose owner remembers their
name or the restaurant where the
waitress knows if you want sweat
tea, lemonade, or water.
If even half the employed
population spent a mere $50 per
month in locally owned retail
stores, those purchases would
generate more than $42.6 billion in
revenue--which can be a huge impact
for a relatively small investment.
Why is that? Did you know that
sixty-eight of every $100 spent in
locally owned stores stays in the
community's economy? By contrast,
only $43 per one hundred remains
local when spent in national chains
and little or no revenue results
from online purchases.
Find out more about how you can
keep your hard earned dollars from
leaching into the economies of our
neighboring counties by checking out
the 350 project website. And
remember, shopping at home three
times a month can be the difference
between a local merchant's success
or closure.
