Animal Control
The City of Montezuma has a leash law that requires owners to keep their dogs on a
leash or either confined to their property. All dogs must be registered each year at
City Hall and must display a valid dog tag to avoid being picked up by the animal control
officer. Cost for registering your dog is $5.00. Dogs may be registered at
City Hall.
Curfew
It is unlawful for any person under the age of sixteen (16) to be on/in any public
place in Montezuma between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m..
Noise Ordinance
The making, creating, or permitting of any unreasonably loud or unnecessary noise in
the city is prohibited. This includes loud music from a vehicle.
Elections
Municipal elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in
November of odd numbered years. Elected positions include the office of Mayor and
Council Member. For your convenience, a Deputy Registrar is available at City Hall
for you to register.
Building Permits
Building permits are required for all construction or remodeling projects and can be
obtained at City Hall. The cost for a permit depends on the scope of the project.
